Contents
Sporting a 5.5-inch full HD screen, 64-bit Octa-core processor and a 13-megapixel camera supplied by Samsung is the Xiaomi Mi Note 2 made by a company billed as the “Apple of the East”. As one can expect from a company that’s known for offering affordable phones with impressive specifications, the budget-friendly Redmi Note 2 doesn’t disappoint in terms of design, display, software and features, and performance, which we’ll be taking a closer look at. The PRESALE is currently happening at Gearbest.com and ends on December 15th with shipment of product after the 17th.
#1 – Xiaomi Mi Note 2 4G Phablet Design
Thin and lightweight, the Xiaomi Mi Note 2 is a lot like the first Note from Redmi, which is Note 2’s immediate predecessor, and comes with a slick frame, and plain and simpler structure than that of the iPhone-like Xiaomi Mi4. A matte plastic shell with different color options, hides the removable battery (3060mAh), Micro SIM (dual) card slots and a slot for a microSD located at the back of the main body. On the main body’s front panel are the multi-functioning, back and home button. The lens for the camera, flash (LED) and grille for the speaker are on the main body’s back panel. On the right side of the frame are the volume control and power (on/off) buttons. At the top edge are the headphone jack (3.5mm) and IR blaster, and on the bottom, is the micro USB charging socket. All in all, its simple structure makes for a user-friendly phone.
#2 – Xiaomi Note 2 Display
Xiaomi Redmi Note 2’s 5.5” LCD IPS screen with a full HD (1920×1080) resolution is quite a lot more than what one would normally expect from a phone that comes in at the low-price end of the market. And with an impressive pixel density of 401 ppi, you’ll get excellent rendering of details, colors and contrast.
#3 – Xiaomi Mi Note 2 Software
Xiaomi Mi Note 2 runs on a Helio X10 MediaTek MT6795 64-bit octa-core processor, which is the same processor that powers HTC’s One M9. It comes with 2 gigs of RAM and storage options of 32GB for the prime model and 16GB for the regular edition. You can increase the storage of the phone via the microSD card slot. The phone sports Android 5.0.2 and the MIUI 7 skin comes with slick icons and animations. There’s also 4G connectivity, an IR blaster, which allows you to use the phone as a remote control for your TV or audio equipment by simply installing appropriate apps. The 13 MP rear camera made by Samsung takes great photos and videos and is also equipped with phase detection autofocus for rapid shots.
#4 – Performance
The Xiaomi Redmi Note 2’s 3GB prime edition, which clocked at 2.2 GHz, easily outperformed other phones within its price range and may even be at par with some of the leading and more expensive Android phones in the market. The 16GB basic edition is a bit slower at 2.0 GHz but still delivers satisfactory performance. With its smooth-running and user-friendly interface, you won’t have a hard time navigating through the phone, switching between applications, browsing the web or running 3D games.
