PIMAX 4K VR Headset : Ever since the early 2000’s, having a VR headset is something that every kid has dreamed of. Using controllers and keyboards as fun, but they don’t have the same kind of immersion a VR headset can give you. We’re going to do a review on the PIMAX 4K VR Headset and see how it holds up against itself and other VR headsets that are out on the market. We will also be comparing pricing against the other VR headsets as well.
Features And Quality
Contents
One thing gamers love is visuals. It’s all about the resolution. Luckily, the PIMAX 4K VR Headset brags about its 4K ULTRA HD resolution that also runs at 60 Frames Per Second. This is also said to help people that have motion sickness. It also has a dual 55 mm lens. This produces a 110 degree field of view that gives a full spectrum of optical bredth. For special reasons, you can also adjust the lenses between 58-71 mm’s which maybe great for people who need this for visual assistance and helps with people with glasses.
It comes with a build in gyroscope, accelerometer, megnetometer and light sensor. These are to give the user a greater sense of in depth field perception and to help balance the headset out for when you are using it on different angles. As far as quality goes, it’s not the best. It has a slight flimsy feel to it which makes you feel like it’s completely made out of plastic. This is understandable considering the price range of this product which is under that of the Play station 4 VR Headset.
The Software
When it comes to software, you want something to set up. There’s nothing more annoying than having a great device that takes forever to set up. The software has been said to be much to be desired. It’s also said to have vague set up options with very little instructions to help you get you started.
Because VR is very new in the technology department, there’s honestly not much out there for it at the moment. There is Steam, which is a PC program that let’s you buy games and access them, but that’s for your PC. If you have a console, you maybe safe just let this one wait for a bit to see which direction it goes.
Other VR Headsets
When it comes to price, the PIMAX 4K VR Headset beats almost every single VR headset. This includes the Oculus and the HTC vive. Now, obviously these higher end headsets are going to have better functions, features and resolution. Their price range starts at $1,200. The PIMAX 4K VR Headset starts for around $400 in the U.S.
So there are going to have to be some compromises made. The great thing about the PIMAX 4K VR Headset is that it also comes with detachable ear muffs, which also makes it more portable. Or just in case you wanted to play it through your T.V or surround system to impress your visitors.
Should You Get It?
When it comes to budget and price, it’s a guaranteed yes. The only other decent options start at around $1,200. It has great value for such a cheap VR headset player, and it also has a lot of great little functions and features that the others don’t. Although there aren’t many games out for it yet, and the software can be a bit frustrating, be patient.
You may want to wait some time to see where the future of VR is going. You don’t want to buy something that crashes and burns like the PS4 Kinect which lasted barely more than 6 months. Give it some time and see if it’s worth buying then.
