Contents
We always enjoy getting new phones to review particularly a new phone that is ready to compete in the mid segment smartphone market. To attract new adopters a phone in this segment needs to be something special, and we feel that the Doogee Y300 definitely deserves to be considered special.
Doogee is a relative newcomer to the phone market having only launched in 2012, but what they may lose by being the youngest player in the market they definitely make up for by creating beautiful looking high-quality phones. They have firmly targeted themselves at the budget to mid-level market and are definitely waking waves in the industry. We were lucky enough to be given the opportunity to look at their latest offering, and here is our Doogee Y300 review.
Design & Display
The Doogee Y300 weighs in at 145 grams and is a decent sized phone measuring 155.1 mm x 77.6 mm. It features a 5 inch, 1280 x 720 IPS capacitive screen, and is 5.3 mm thick. With rounded sides and a neatly squared off top and bottom, the phone has a beautiful profile. One of the most interesting design features is that the front of the phone has no buttons or switches and instead, all menus are accessed directly through the software. This means that with a recessed rear camera, and a fabulous profile, the Doogee Y300 possesses a sleek and smooth look that leaves one with the impression of high quality and true value for money. It is one of those phones that when you see it, you just have to pick it up and hold it.
Performance & Features
Even though it is priced as a budget phone, its features are way up there with its top-end competitors. The Doogee Y300 boasts a MTK MT6735 quad-core processor, 2 GB of ram, 32 GB of ROM and comes preinstalled with Android 6.0. The Y300 also has an external card slot so you can extend your onboard memory by up to 32 GB. Add to this the fact that it is Dual Sim compatible and multi-touch responsive and you can be very confident that you are getting some very high-end features packed into an appealing package.
It has the usual android additional features like built-in GPS, Bluetooth, 4G, and the usual array of sensors like a gravity sensor, light sensor and proximity sensor. A nice little extra is the gesture sensing technology included as well as the fact that it has 48 different languages preinstalled.
Battery & Camera
The Doogee Y300 has forward and rear facing cameras. The front camera has a 5-megapixel lens and the rear camera features an 8 megapixel Sony IMX219 lens with a built-in flash.
The battery is what really makes the Doogee Y300 stand out. Doogee has managed to get 2 to 3 days stand-by out of a 2200mAh battery, so there is no way you will run out of battery life during the course of a normal day.
Final Verdict & Conclusion :
If you are looking for a budget phone with all the features of your high-end, premium competitors then look no further than the Doogee Y300. The phone offers true value for money and is packed with features that set it apart from the other phones on the market. After this Doogee Y300 review, we definitely recommend it as your next phone.
