Late last year, Nitecore decided to surprise its diehard fans with a new product, the Nitecore HC33 1.8k Lumen headlamp. They released the HC33 to succeed the HC30, a previous 2000 lumen Nitecore headlamp.
The Nitecore HC33 headlamp came with more lumens, which got the attention of most people. If you have been thinking of purchasing a copy of Nitecore HC33 1800 Lumen Headlamp, you could be wondering how good of a lamp it is. Or, how good of a product is the Nitecore HC33 and how likely is it to perform when I buy it?
Having used it for more than six months now, I think I’m qualified to say a thing or two about the Nitecore HC33 1800 Lumen headlamp Review. If you have used the HC30 model, you may easily resonate with the HC33 model and notice a bunch of differences as well.
Features And Specifications
Contents
- With only one version of the HC33 headlamp, it comes with the following features and specifications.
- Powerful CREE XHP35 HD LED with which it emits its 1800 lumens.
- Comes with a battery level indicator, which is not popular with headlamps. The lamp is also compatible with other IMR batteries.
- The HC33 is waterproof (IP68-rated) and can submerge up to 2m for your shallow water marine activity.
- The headlamp also can resist the impact of a 1.5m drop.
- The headlamp has an advanced temperature regulation (ATR), which means it cannot overheat.
- The lamp is in a perfect size given its 105.3 mm length, a 25.5 head diameter, and the 51.2g weight.
How good of a design it has
If you’ve seen it, the Nitecore HC33 comes with a convenient L-shape design, which not only makes it a versatile headlamp but also helps in slipping the device’s light into the headband. In addition to the design, its length is more comfortable than the HC30’s, which gives your fingers more grip if you’ll use it as a handheld flashlight.
With a magnetic tail cap and clip, you can easily mount your Nitecore HC33 on multiple surfaces to assist you in your activities.
The Performance
After the comfort and design of a headlamp, the next thing you’re looking for is its performance. Does it align with its stated features or its disappointing? The performance of Nitecore HC33 is highly subjective to your expectations and experience with headlamps.
Nevertheless, the first thing you’ll note about this lamp is its rugged handle, which makes it convenient as a handheld flashlight. Also, its length is also fantastic as it makes it more comfortable to hold the lamp.
Also, powered by a 18650 output batter, the lamp offers excellent beam performance. Although it’s sold separately, the default 8A lamp’s batter is very powerful and could last up to 300 hours with a powerful beam, which I consider a plus.
The lumens are also somehow powerful and can see long distance, the kind of range that would matter at night. Lastly, its impact resistance feature works flawlessly. I intentionally fell it from an approximate 5ft, and it did not hurt, which is also a plus for me.
Where the Nitecore HC33 1800 Lumen headlamp fell short
I still think Nitecore could have offered a trial battery for the lamp instead of making us buy it separately. Also, I do not like the head straps that much because they are somehow loose. The straps are not the best idea if you’re looking for the headlamp to use in engaging activities.
Conclusion
What I think I think the headlamp is worth dollars. It is a quality lamp, and its features are befitting. Also, there is a number of headlamps that can compare with the Nitecore HC33 1800 Lumen headlamp in terms of the features. But I am yet to find one with a dominant output as the HC33 has.
