Mobile technology has grown by leaps and bounds in the last decade. Some of these mobile devices have become so powerful they’ve become pocket-sized computers. You can use them to do a lot of things that were once unimaginable.
You can take pictures, surf the internet, watch movies, and even control the home devices. While the smartphone can do all of these, manufacturers continue to add new features to their products to get them ahead of their competition.
But there are some innovations people may want to see on their mobile devices in the future. Here are those nice-to-have innovations
Air Charging

Nikola Tesla broached the idea of supplying power without using wires. This wireless power transfer concept led to the creation of the Tesla coil. Scientists have agreed that the concept of a world wireless system will not work in long distances. But it appears to be possible when charging smartphones in short distances by connecting the smartphone to the charger.
When wireless chargers were first used, it showed that it was possible to send electric charges from one device to another without using wires. But the smartphone needed to be near the charger for its induction coils to send energy into the smartphone.
Then, Xiaomi introduced its Air Charge technology that can charge a smartphone from a distance of several meters. The technology uses a set of antennas on the charger and smartphone to send electric energy into the smartphone.
While the technology is still in its infancy, it’s a good innovation to have on the phone so people won’t have to go around looking for their charger when the phone is running out of juice.
Underwater-Friendly Displays
In the past, mobile phones were allergic to water. People would normally feel anxious when their phones are splashed with water, or they run through heavy rain with the phone in their hands. These days, smartphones are water-resistant, and you don’t have to worry about damage from light splashes. Some can even survive getting dropped into a bathtub or a swimming pool.
But surviving a swim into the pool is different from being functional while underwater. Using a waterproof case may allow you to use its camera underwater. But it may not be easy to use the touchscreen when the phone is inside a case while underwater. People may struggle to use the features of the phone through the plastic of the case.
So, for now, we’ll have to be contented with using a case if we want to use all the features of the smartphone underwater.
Sturdier Phones
Buying the latest models can cost a small fortune. Some may even be tempted to get in touch with mortgage lenders to take out a loan to buy one. But the high price doesn’t always mean they are durable.
Earlier smartphone models were quite delicate, that people compared them with older analog phones that seemed to be indestructible. Some models are designed to be durable, but these models do not normally look stylish. Their design was mainly focused on durability rather than look.
Due to this, people are normally extra careful when using their phones. They know that if the device falls on concrete, they may have to save up again to buy a new phone. Or at least have the screen fixed. But it would be better if smartphone manufacturers can find a way to combine beauty with durability so people won’t have to hold their breath when they drop their phones on the ground.
Multi-Screen Capability
The displays of the latest smartphone models are quite impressive and comparable to the best monitors in the market. But one limitation is the size of the screen. While some smartphones have large displays, they are still too small for some people. Due to this, a multi-screen capability is a good feature to have in a smartphone.
This capability allows you to share the smartphone screen with a tablet, PC, television, or even a projector. This is quite useful for school and office presentations. It’s also a nice feature to have if you have a movie saved on your phone.
Some Android and iOS apps already allow smartphones to show content on a Smart TV. But it would be great if the feature already comes with the smartphone, and you don’t need to download anything. It would also be nice if the feature crosses different platforms to increase its versatility and compatibility.
Smartphones have come a long way since they were first introduced in 1992. While new features were added since then, it’s still nice to incorporate newer technologies into these mobile devices in the future.
